Although construction work will begin on site in Spring 2020, contractors Matrix Networks Ltd – a leading accredited independent connections provider – has already begun a programme of utility connection works.
This involves installing a new gas main from the site along the A444 and Acresford Road into Ashby de la Zouch, and, separately, a new foul water pipe along the B4593 to Ashby Road Bridge and an electricity cable to Bolebridge Street in Tamworth.
The gas main installation began along the A444 near junction 11, M42 in December 2019.
These infrastructure works will involve the temporary closure of one lane of the road in sections up to 200m at a time. These sections will be managed by temporary traffic lights and at no time will the road be fully closed.
The works are continuing along the A444, onto Acresford Road into Donisthorpe (where some work has also recently been carried out) and along Ashby Road and Willesley Lane towards Ashby de la Zouch.

Water and electricity connection
From Ashby Road Bridge along the B5493 to the Mercia Park site near J11 M42, the water and electricity installation will be taking place at the same to minimise disruption.
These works involve the temporary closure of one lane of the B5493 in sections up to 200m at a time. These sections will be managed by temporary traffic lights and at no time will the road be fully closed.
The installation of the electricity cable in Tamworth began in January. Work has already been undertaken along Bolebridge Street, Upper Gungate and Saxondrive.
The next phase will involve our team working from Ashby Road Bridge, heading west back along the B5493 and A513 towards the town centre.

Both sets of these utility works are phased, and their impact will be localised and temporary. As the works will be taking place over several months, updates will be provided to local parishes and stakeholders and directly affected local residents will be notified by Matrix Networks individually ahead of work starting in each area.
We would like to reassure you that together with our contractors we will work to ensure any disruption to local communities and residents is minimised.
